Landing Bourn equals World Series?

The Braves made a big Splash on July 31st hours before the trade deadline by acquring Michel Bourn the Houston Astros centerfielder. In return, Houston gets in return out fielder Jordan schafer, south paw Brett Oberholtzer and right-handers Paul Clemens and Juan Abreu. Bourn entering Monday is batting .303 with 64 runs and 39 stolen bases which is tops in majors. This is a better deal than getting Beltran who went to the Giants, or Pence who is with the phillies now. After Nate Mclouth went on the Dl, Atlanta knew they needed to go get a center fielder, and that is exactly what they did. Today Bourn singled in his first at bat as a brave, and got robbed of extra bases in his second at bat. While helping on the base paths and in center, Bourn will fill a needed leadoff hitter the Braves have been looking for since 2005 via Rafel Furcal. Now Atlanta will be a true threat come post season time and the good news is Bourn's contract ends in 2012 instead of being a rental player!

Braves 2 wins in a row.. awaiting trade

Yesterday the Braves took on the Nationals trying to win the series. Jair Jurrjens was on the hill coming off his great allstar game performance. He went 5 innings giving up 6 runs. The Braves were able to come back with 5 runs in the 5th. In the 8th inning the Braves trailed 8 to 7 and then Nate Mclouth launched his fourth homer. In the 9th inning Freddie Freeman hit his first walkoff hit. Today Derek Lowe under trade speculation pitched and got his 6th win in a 2 walks 2 strikeouts with 4 runs given up. The Braves scored 7 runs for a 7 to 4 win. The 2-6 hitters were 9 for 23. The Braves have 3 big names under trade rumors.. Marlyn Bryd, Michel Bourn, and Hunter Pence with 11 days till the deadline the Bravos look to acquire a big righthand bat.

Braves in the swing of things

The braves are battling with the Phillies in the NL East so far this year and they maintain a wild card lead over the Arizona Dimaondbacks by 5 games. The braves have a lot of trade rumors. The strongest rumor so far is Michel Bourn. Hunter Pence is also a name coming up along with Michel Cuddyer. Mike Adams a veteran relieft pitcher is at the top of the Braves wish list for pitchers in the bullpen. Jordan Schafer and Derek Lowe are names among being sent out. It will be intresting who will come to the Braves after the trade deadline July 31st. As of today the Braves lost to the Nationals 5 to 2. Standing at 55 and 39.
